The Fame Bureau

About Us

Hello! and welcome to THE FAME BUREAU.

Ted Owen & James Wilkinson

Ted Owen

Ted Owen, the Fame Bureau's Managing Director is recognised as one of the World's leading experts in Music Memorabilia and has been at the top of his field for 30 years.

In 1988 Ted took over as Head of Department for Phillips, Entertainment section. After years of successful sales he was headhunted by Bonhams to expand and head up their entertainment department. During this period he organised the first ever all-Elvis sale in Vegas and Berlin. He then went on to organise the first via-Satellite Beatle auction broadcast from Tokyo to London incorporating for the first time Live internet bidding.

Breaking new boundaries he then successfully started Fleetwood Owen with Mick Fleetwood from Fleetwood Mac which then evolved when Cliff Cooper and Ted founded the Rock Auction business Cooper Owen.

During these years, Ted consigned and brought to auction John Lennon's Imagine piano which sold to George Michael for £1.5million and broke all records with the sale of the Beatles lyrics 'All You Need is Love' for a price that is still unsurpassed to this day.

Always looking to develop and improve, Ted joined ex-city investment banker turned Pop-Artist James Wilkinson and together they formed the groundbreaking auction house THE FAME BUREAU.

James Wilkinson

James' work under the Paintpop brand is owned by many of Rock's bright lights and is collected by young professionals as well as those discerning art collectors. He donates at least one piece of work to charity a year and has raised thousands of
pounds for those who have already received paintings. The year 2010 James has been made a resident artist at Hylands House Chelmsford (Home of the V Festival)

James spent 17 years in the city as an investment banker and realizes the investment potential of the artifacts that The Fame Bureau deal in. "I wouldn't be stupid enough to say that these items will never depreciate in value, as all investments are non-predictable but their track record goes to show that over the past 25 years they have outperformed most recognised investment products and as such I would encourage people to try some diversity. There is of course the added benefit of being able to enjoy the investment, as opposed to lets say stocks or bonds."

THE FAME BUREAU

In 2006 THE FAME BUREAU began a pioneering Televisual pilot allowing its customers to explore the discovery and investigation of some of the World's most iconic rock memorabilia through authentication and ultimately sale. The video investigations allow the viewer the opportunity to share The Fame Bureau's passion for rock history. Parts of those investigations are available on youtube.

Now their films of discovery are the subject of terrestrial Television commissioning! Watch this space as the 'Fame Bureau Investigates' (FBI) will be appearing on your Television shortly. In the meantime check out the Fame Bureau's YouTube pages for short investigations.

If you consign your items to the Fame Bureau, they may well appear on one of our investigation films.
